Job Description: 

Job Purpose

To operate a complex piece of equipment.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

· Maintain the Dryer, Strander, Classifier and Woodyard areas clear of flake and bark accumulations by processing material through the #3    Strander Refeed and/or the Fuel Hog.

· Ensure neat storage of flakes and delivered bark.

· Must complete daily startup checklist which consists of checking fluids, inspecting and greasing the machine, and notifying supervisor or    mobile mechanic of any issues.

· Communicate with supervisors or co-workers about daily tasks.

· Monitor fuel bin level and reclaim bark into fuel bin following fuel handling procedures.

· Load the ash spreader as needed.

· Assist the utility crew with mill cleanup duties.

· Assist the knuckle boom operator with cleanup duties.

· Empty fire dumps as necessary.

· Organize, plan, and prioritize work.

· Must obtain appropriate mobile equipment certification

· Performs other tasks as required

What do I need to be successful?

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of complex equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of general equipment maintenance.
  • Time management skills.
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Ability to read and understand safety rules and regulations.

 

Education:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • 1 – 2 years’ experience in equipment operation.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
