Job Purpose

To define standards and management processes in support of corporate centralized and distributed computing platforms. Enable the implementation, functionality, and ongoing availability of critical business applications and services. Provide technical support, installation, and maintenance of IT systems and selected applications to ensure stable system performance.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Responsible for the operation and availability of core IT services and devices used by LP system users, applications, customers
  • Determine root cause of system or application problems with low to medium levels of complexity
  • Coordinate with system and software vendors and LP teams to implement IT services
  • Responsible for the management of operating systems including Windows and LINUX
  • Responsible for management of operating system security and virus protection software
  • Responsible for the architecture, implementation, and management of Microsoft Active Directory and other enterprise services.
  • Responsible for the implementation and administration of corporate databases supporting business-critical applications using Microsoft SQL
  • Develop and maintain processes to assure consistent performance and availability of database instances
  • Development and management of automated system management processes
  • Create and maintain processes for consistent system replication and deployment
  • Create and manage new systems utilizing dedicated hardware, VMWare, or external service providers
  • Develop and maintain appropriate documentation on system specifications and operating instructions, applying knowledge of disk management (including SAN-based systems), file systems, disk partitioning, and redundancy
  • Coordinate with application teams to design effective and efficient architectures, supporting business requirements
  • Monitor system hardware for failures; coordinate replacements; plan and implement upgrades to meet user needs
  • Administer back-up, off-site storage and retention policies; automate and perform back-ups; restore files as needed
  • Development and implementation of enterprise monitoring systems for availability and functionality
  • Manage Microsoft Exchange email, corporate fax services, software development tools, or other enterprise applications
  • Development and deployment of lab and development environments for application teams
  • Development, testing, and documentation of disaster recovery processes
  • Develop and monitor security procedures to safeguard the systems from unauthorized use, viruses, or data damage
  • Plan, install, and maintain approved operating systems, manufacturer updates, and related software.
  • Monitor systems for stable performance; troubleshoot and resolve network and/or operating system problems
  • Administer system and user accounts.
  • Frequently required to be on-call on a 24x7 basis to respond to reported problems
  • Responsible for performing repairs and system upgrades outside of normal business hours
  • Some travel required

What do I need to be successful?

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of related experience
  • Or any combination of education, experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform key responsibilities
  • Good working knowledge of one or more of the following operating systems and how they interact with applications: Windows, LINUX, and MS SQL databases)
  • Strong working knowledge of system commands, utilities, and system administration tasks for the above systems
  • Broad working knowledge and understanding of operating system and application interface concepts
  • Good working knowledge of hardware/software systems, including various hardware types as well as virtual hardware systems such as VMWare
  • Working knowledge of network concepts, protocols, applications, and tools
  • Strong experience in managing MS active directory or other enterprise services
  • Working knowledge of disk management (including SAN technologies), file systems, disk partitioning, and redundancy.
  • Good level of knowledge and experience with database and application interface support
  • Good level of knowledge and experience supporting redundant systems and with disaster recovery plan development and testing
  • Ability to understand and write programs or scripts in support of system management automation
  • Ability to support systems remotely using a variety of access methods.
  • Good working knowledge and preferred certification in ITIL methodologies
  • Ability to respond to help calls on a 7x24 basis

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
