Job Purpose
Develops and manages a corporate E&C reliability program across multiple facilities and/or programs. Develops and supervises initiatives toimprove equipment and machine center OEE performance through industrial best practice, lessons learned, applied E&C technology, and process improvement. Using reliability metrics, develop and communicate a control system improvement plan for critical machine systems for improved uptime and operating quality.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:
- Partner with corporate, regional and plant personnel to ensure collaborative, effective solutions are presented, developed and implement which achieve predetermined project goals and mill needs or requirements
- Lead the development of Hardware, Software, and device standards to ensure effective reliable operations
- Lead the development of Control System strategies and programing standards to ensure effective and reliable operations
- Provide guidance, training and mentor the development of plant controls and electrical personnel to assist reliability improvement efforts
- Evaluate plant Maintenance strategies for all electrical and control equipment and implement improvements to reduce failures
- Assist plant personnel in developing condition and performance monitoring programs for critical equipment in order to reduce/eliminate unplanned failures
- Using reliability metrics identify and prioritize control system improvement opportunities. Work with plant personnel to make necessary improvements to improve plant and machine center OEE
- Perform reliability review of design and control system reviews on proposed new equipment installation
- Lead and/or participate in efforts to analyze and identify root causes of failures for high priority/critical items
- Develop and manage a resource plan that ensures adequate coverage of discipline strength as required to implement the communicated improvement initiatives across all businesses and regions
- Develop and implement results oriented, value-added engineering solutions that achieve predetermined project goals and customer needs and/or requirements
- Develop project documentation defining standards, specifications, plans, prints, schematics and/or other necessary documentation required to achieve defined project goals
- Develop detailed reports and studies in a thorough, professional manner consistent with a senior engineering position.
- Develop detailed design of automation and process control systems that integrate PCs, PLCs, AC or DC Drives, Position Controllers, single or multi-loop controllers
- Integrate statistical control components into system design including basic control charting, real time & historical trending, remote monitoring and data acquisition / control
- Support project development and implementation work of corporate, regional, and plant E&C engineers, contribute to corporate standards and process control initiatives
- Develop, install and debug control system programming including PC operating, PC networking, SQL, Access, Excel, PLC, HMI, Visual Basic, C, and/or specialty component software
- Manage, lead and/or guide internal or external engineering resources to ensure adherence to reliability and project goals
- Implement standard engineering and project management practices consistently throughout project / work assignments
- Maintain technical skills and knowledge by attending trade shows or clinics; investigate new equipment applications with consulting engineers & equipment venders, and specific course work
- Lead development and training efforts of field operation and maintenance personnel in the design features, process operation, interpretation of system information, and application of that information regarding control system functionality
- Conduct special projects/studies, as opportunities arise, relating to technology and capital effectiveness
What do I need to be successful?
- Minimum of 10 years experience, 4-6 of which are directly related to the management of an electrical engineering efforts related to capital improvement work and 4 years related to process improvement work in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated experience managing priorities across multiple locations
- Or any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position
- Knowledge of industrial process systems, including discrete sequential logic material transfer, fluid pumping, and pneumatic transfer systems
- Knowledge of Motor Control Centers, AC & DC drives, coordinated drives systems and position control systems
- Knowledge of PC operating systems, networking equipment and communication protocols, devices and systems
- Knowledge of Allen-Bradley and/or Modicon PLC components / systems and the ability to apply them into a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of Allen-Bradley and/or Wonderware HMI software and the ability to effectively apply them into a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of statistical control techniques and programs such as SPC, SQC and SCADA systems
- Knowledge of federal, state and industry standards / specifications including NFPA, FM, IEEE, OSHA, UL and CSA
Education
- BS in Engineering, Applied Science, or related field (or equivalent)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license desirable
- BS equivalency: 6-8 years discipline experience
- MS equivalency: 4-6 years engineering management experience
Work Environment
- Moderate to heavy travel requiring a flexible schedule is required
- Hybrid: Remote/Manufacturing environment while traveling
