Job Purpose

To schedule and perform preventative and predictive maintenance. To serve as lead mechanic, assigning daily work to maintenance team.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Schedule and perform complex preventative and predictive maintenance functions.
  • Schedule and perform complex equipment repairs.
  • Perform general fabrication and machinist work.
  • Troubleshoot problems as necessary.
  • Development of skills through identified training.
  • Develop and train area maintenance personnel.   
  • Serve as lead mechanic; assign daily work to maintenance team.
  • Learn and teach predictive maintenance tools and applications.
  • Assist with development of weekly work plans.
  • Responsible for execution of weekly work plans including documentation.
  • Development or revision of area PMs and/or predictive maintenance tasks.
  • Proficient in using the program for recording PM work, predictive and corrective work performed.
  • Record daily predictive and corrective work performed.
  • Identify parts needed to perform tasks and track through MP2.
  • Ensure work areas are properly maintained, clean, and orderly and tools placed in proper storage areas.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety and environmental rules and regulations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Expert knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance functions.
  • Expert knowledge of maintenance equipment and tools.
  • Strong time management, organization, and prioritizing skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and written repair manuals.
  • Ability to read and understand safety rules and regulations.

 

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of technical training in general maintenance.

 

Experience

 

 

  • 8+ years’ general maintenance experience required.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.

 

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to climb, bend, stoop, squat, lift over 40 lbs., work in confined spaces and work at substantial height.
  • Ability to use an assortment of hand tools, pullers, hoist, jacks, drill motors and presses, saws, man lifts, portable crane, cables, winches, forklifts, ladders, welding equipment, acetylene torches, rigging, etc.
  • Ability to work with oils, greases, solvents and cleaning solutions, fire hoses and extinguishers, insulating materials, structural steel and plates, welding gases, etc.
  • Ability to supervise.
  • Ability to perform key responsibilities listed above.

Work Environment:

  • OSB manufacturing facility.
  • Mill environment subject to weather extremes.
