Job Purpose

To provide health and safety regulatory and corporate policy guidance and support to assigned operating facilities and other external/internal stakeholders.  Provide leadership and direction in the design, development and implementation of strategic programs and initiatives on a corporate-wide basis. 

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

• Advise LP Business, assigned Operations staff, and the Business EHS Department on strategic Health & Safety issues, emerging or revised environmental laws, and general concerns affecting assigned plants.

• Report to the Business Operations Directors and EHS Business Manager on applicable facility or stakeholder initiatives. 

• Support the directives of the Business Operations Directors and Business EHS Manager; partner, coach, train, and evaluate performance in collaboration with the local Plant Manager.

• Oversee resources for large projects involving internal EHS project managers, consultants, contractors, and other resources

• Institute automated drills and simulations for high-risk response- Thermal Oil System Response, Fire Evacuation, Waferizer/Strander upsets…

• Promote and assess the effectiveness of the Environmental Management System.

• Lead and/or participate in routine and scheduled site assessments, i.e. EHS Assessments, Fire Assessments…

• Identifies, recommends, and implements enhancements and upgrades to current programs

• Drives consistency in personal process and safety across the Business Unit

• Provide leadership and direction in implementing haz-op and risk assessment studies associated with Capital Projects

• Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.

• Perform other duties as necessary.

What do I need to be successful?

  • In-depth knowledge of applicable Federal and State OSHA regulations.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of plant operations and potential compliance issues.
  • Thorough knowledge of functional safety and automation
  • Ability to lead hazard operability studies
  • Thorough knowledge of process/ industry safety
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively partner and work with corporate and plant leadership teams
  • Ability to lead individuals and teams to achieve goals and objectives.

Education

• Post-secondary degree in S&H field

 

Experience:

• 3-5 or more years’ S&H related experience.

• previous management and/or supervisory experience

• previous manufacturing experience

Or any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Moderate travel required (~60%).
