Job Description:
Job Purpose
To ensure manufacturing processes meet control specifications and finished product standards are met. Provide problem solving support to operations.
In this position you will have the opportunity to:
- Perform all work in accordance with safety rules and regulations and participate in facility health and safety activities as assigned.
- Verify product standards are met through statistical analysis of product and process measurements and observations.
- Ensure all relevant quality requirements are consistently met according to QC manual and plant SOPs.
- Ensure that non-conforming product is appropriately quarantined, identified and segregated according to standard procedures.
- Analyze and evaluate quarantined product to determine disposition in accordance with product standards.
- Record testing and inspection results, input into appropriate database or spreadsheets. Identify and respond to statistical trends or non-conforming process measures and test values.
- Verify that all product packaging and appearance standards are met. Lead in troubleshooting and resolving non-conformances; conduct audits of finished product packaging.
- Generate reports and charts for further analysis.
- Lead in maintaining the conformance of the manufacturing process to specifications. Use root cause analysis to identify, troubleshoot and resolve non-conformance.
- Monitor and document process parameter changes as assigned, identify and lead troubleshooting efforts to eliminate special cause variation.
- Communicate test results and observations to operations and management to maintain process and product conformance.
- Monitor and record consumption and inventory of raw materials (wax, resin, etc.)
- Ensure preventive and unscheduled maintenance tasks are assigned and completed, including cleaning and calibration of processing and testing equipment.
- Assist in process and product tests/trials as assigned and compile, analyze, and report trial test results as required.
- Be proactive in identifying and performing other tasks to maintain and improve safety, quality and environmental performance.
- Modify and create process and product SSOPs and JSAs
- Provide guidance and leadership to plant employees with respect to adherence to process control plans
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and ability to follow safety and environmental standards and procedures.
- Knowledge of and ability to follow all quality and process standards.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a computer and supporting software, to include spreadsheet and statistical packages.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment and production processes.
- Demonstrated ability to operate sample preparation and testing equipment
- Knowledge of inventory management
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient math skills and statistical knowledge, including SPC concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of material handling equipment (both hand tools and electrical/motorized equipment).
- Demonstrated ability to work while wearing a respirator and/or other safety clothing or equipment
- Ability to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, work in inclement weather, and work with elevated noise levels.
- Ability to frequently lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Time management skills.
Education:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- ASQ certification or able to complete within 6 months of receiving position
Experience:
- 2 years minimum manufacturing experience required
- Or any equivalent combination of education/training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
Work Environment
The lab and manufacturing environment includes exposure to moving parts, fumes, chemicals, airborne particles and high temperatures.
