Job Purpose

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Tax Compliance Analyst to support and strengthen our multi-jurisdictional payroll tax operations. Reporting to the GBS Senior Payroll Manager, this role will focus on ensuring accurate and timely payroll tax compliance across U.S. federal, state, and local agencies, as well as Canadian provincial jurisdictions. This individual will play a key role in managing tax filing processes, identifying compliance gaps, implementing process improvements, and collaborating with both internal stakeholders and UKG Managed Services to maintain accuracy, consistency, and audit readiness. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll tax, thrive in a collaborative environment, and have hands-on experience with UKG Pro Payroll.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll tax calculations, filings, and payments across U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions.
  • Oversee and reconcile federal, state, local, and provincial payroll taxes, including workers’ compensation and health care remittances.
  • Collaborate closely with UKG Pro Managed Services to ensure compliance in tax updates, garnishment processing, and year-end activities (W-2, T4, etc.).
  • Monitor regulatory changes and proactively implement updates in tax setup/configuration within the UKG Pro system.
  • Partner with Finance for GL payroll tax account reconciliations, audits, and reporting requests.
  • Research and resolve complex payroll tax discrepancies, amendments, and notices from tax agencies.
  • Identify and implement automation or workflow enhancements for payroll tax reporting and reconciliation.
  • Support payroll audits (SOX, internal, external) by preparing necessary documentation and responses.
  • Document and maintain internal controls, SOPs, and process maps related to payroll tax functions.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for payroll tax-related inquiries from leadership, HR, and external auditors.

What do I need to be successful?

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of payroll and payroll tax experience, with direct responsibility for multi-state and Canadian jurisdictions.
  • Strong experience with UKG Pro Payroll and knowledge of its tax configuration, reporting, and integration capabilities.
  • Familiarity with UKG Dimensions (Workforce Management) is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of payroll tax laws, regulations, and best practices in both the U.S. and Canada.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • In-depth knowledge of UKG Pro Payroll and related tax functionalities.
  • Expertise in U.S. federal/state/local and Canadian provincial tax requirements.
  • Familiarity with garnishment rules, benefit taxation, and year-end reporting.
  • Experience in implementing or maintaining payroll tax compliance controls.
  • Strong Excel skills; comfortable working with large datasets and reconciliation processes.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent experience.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.

Work Environment

  • This position will be remote, working in a home office environment
  • Occasional travel (including international, if required)
