Job Description: 

Job Purpose

Provide technical support for finishing line’s paint booth through effective preparation and first-level maintenance of booth and pump cart.  Supports the line’s ability to operate by having an available paint booth and pump cart ready to swap out for color changes or for daily cleaning and maintenance.  Work is coordinated with planned schedule for part-size run and assigned color. Position is responsible for wastewater system and oversees daily usage.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Coordinate paint booth and pump cart removal from line operation and replace with clean, fully operating booth and cart.
  • Disassemble unit and parts safely and according to manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Remove excess paint and fully clean pumps, filters, paint lines and spray guns. All intake and outtake points, paint lines and spray guns are to be cleaned inside and out.
  • Rebuild or replace compromised pumps, filters and spray guns.
  • Clean paint from the pump cart itself.
  • Reassemble parts and test part or unit for effective operation.
  • Hookup prepared paint booth and pump cart when scheduled or called upon.
  • Clean up and organize wash area when complete.
  • Complete general housekeeping for your area.
  • As time permits, rebuild any needed spray guns or pumps from other finishing lines.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of the water treatment process.
  • Communicate regularly with maintenance department for parts needs.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with all standard operating procedures (SOP’s), safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

What do I need to be successful?

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and understand SOP’s, safety rules and regulations.
  • Must be aware of any environmental hazard and methods for reporting and cleaning of paint or chemical spills.
  • Strong organizational skills, detailed clerical and administrative skills and the ability to interact with departmental leadership.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and understand SOP’s, safety rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of product line & manufacturing process flow.
  • Ability to apply basic mechanical skills for the deconstruction, maintenance and reconstruction of paint booth and pump cart parts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize assigned tasks.
  • Ability to operate a computer and supporting software.
  • General knowledge of an onsite water treatment process.
  • Must successfully pass an LP scheduled forklift class with proper observation form(s) completed.
  • Ability to work independently, in a team environment and follow LP Values.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Experience:

  • Experience in paint or stain-related spray finishing environment preferred. 
  • 1 or more years’ basic mechanical experience preferred.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.

 

Education

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
