Job Purpose

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide coverage for employee absences, including paid time off (PTO) and illnesses. When not providing coverage, the Utility supports mill operations by performing daily maintenance and cleaning duties that contribute to the production of high‑quality panel products. A commitment to working safely is essential in all aspects of this role.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Train to support and provide coverage across all areas of the mill.
  • Maintain and assist with baghouse bag changeouts for units #1, #2, #4, #5, #8, #9, and the McConnel Baghouse.
  • Clean embossing plates and mesh pads to ensure proper equipment performance.
  • Perform wash-down activities between buildings as needed.
  • Carry out general cleanup and utility tasks as directed daily by the Supervisor, including sweeping floors, mowing or trimming lawns, collecting trash, painting, and cleaning equipment.
  • Screen cleaning.
  • Clean scuppers.
  • Complete and document eyewash station inspections.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support mill operations.
  • Follow all safety rules, guidelines, and regulations while performing job responsibilities.

  • Ability to learn and perform general plant cleanup and utility tasks.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow all General Plant Rules.
  • Ability to read, understand, and comply with all safety and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment at all times.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work indoors or outdoors, including at elevated heights.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, both hot and cold, indoors or outdoors.
  • Ability to work in dusty environments as needed.
  • Ability to wear a respirator when required.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to safely perform tasks at heights.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to hear and see moving or approaching mobile equipment to ensure safe operation.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

  • No experience required.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.

Work Environment

  • Work takes place in a manufacturing plant environment, which may be dusty or dirty at times.
  • May be exposed to hot or cold weather conditions depending on the season and work area.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator when required for specific tasks.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work at elevated heights.
  • Must be willing to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including steel‑toe/composite boots, gloves, high‑visibility clothing, hard hat, hearing protection and safety glasses.
  • Must be able to work a rotating schedule, including nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to work both 8-hour and 12-hour shifts as required by the production schedule.
