Job Description: 

Job Purpose

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide coverage for paid time off (PTO) and illnesses.  When not providing coverage, the Utility will perform daily maintenance and cleaning duties to assist the production of high quality panel products.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Train to provide coverage in areas of the mill including but not limited to:
    • Debarker Operator
    • Line Utility
    • Siding Line Operator
  • Maintain and assist with baghouse bag change out:
    • #1, #2, #4, #5, #8 #9
    • McConnel Baghouse
  • Embossing plate and mesh pad cleaning
  • Wash down between buildings
  • Perform general clean-up and utility duties under daily direction from Supervisor, including sweeping floors, cutting/mowing lawns, picking up trash, painting, cleaning equipment, etc.
  • Cleaning of screens
  • Cleaning of scuppers
  • Eyewash checklists
  • Perform other duties as necessary
  • Perform all duties in accordance with all plant rules, safety and environmental rules and regulations

What do I need to be successful?

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to learn general plant clean-up and utility functions.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow: general plant rules.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow: safety and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain good attendance.
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment at all times.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work indoors or outdoors at heights.
  • Ability to work in weather related extreme heat/cold environments, indoors or outdoors.
  • Ability to work in a dusty environment.
  • Ability to wear a respirator.
  • Ability to work in a confined space.
  • Time Management skills.

 

Experience:

  • No experience required.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing Plant Environment, can be dusty/dirty at times.
  • Weather related hot/cold environment at times.
  • Must have the ability to wear a respirator for tasks that require one.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work at heights.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts which include nights, days, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to work 8-hour and 12-hour shifts as required by manufacturing schedule.
