Job Description: 

Job Purpose

The primary responsibility of this position is to monitor the flow of materials in and out of the Newberry facility and assure the quality of the raw material for the siding process is maintained.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Monitor the flow of wood into the facility.
    • Weighing in/out log trucks
    • Stick scaling rail cars
    • Vendor/jobber statements
    • Definition of wood species
  • Monitor flow of non-wood aspects.
    • Provide security at gate/monitor the flow of personnel
    • Monitor employee purchases
    • Monitor board leaving facility
    • Weighing in/out raw materials/wax/resin/general transport trucking
    • Weighing for general public use
  • Monitor and accurately maintain the log yard inventory.
    • Stick/laser scale wood piles in log yard
    • Maintenance of log yard
    • Snow removal
    • Clean and maintain scales
  • Perform lawn maintenance duties.
  • Perform and accurately maintain all required paperwork, including daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reporting.
  • Perform other duties as necessary and as assigned by supervision.

 

What do I need to be successful?

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of simple equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of general equipment maintenance.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate clear, effective radio communication to coordinate with team members.
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Ability to read and understand safety & environmental rules and regulations.
  • Basic computer skills are required, proficiency with Excel is preferred.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3-6 months experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.

Work Environment

• Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to varying hot and cold temperatures.
• Work conditions may include dust, dirt, and proximity to moving machinery.
• Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.
• Ability to safely operate mobile equipment.
• Ability to see and hear approaching or moving equipment to ensure safe operation.
