Job Purpose

The National Specification Development Manager will play a vital role in positioning LP Building Solutions' products with architects and designers in the multifamily segment. Reporting to the National Sales Manager for Multifamily, this role combines relationship building with technical training and requires a thorough understanding of the architectural and residential construction industries. The ideal candidate will influence the perception of LP products among architects, designers, and developers, supporting LP's growth by aligning our offerings with the evolving needs of the industry.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

Market Analysis and Research:

  • Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscapes within the multifamily segment.
  • Gather insights into the needs and preferences of architects, designers, developers, contractors, and other key stakeholders.

Product Positioning & Training:

  • Collaborate with the product development teams to ensure our offerings align with architectural and multifamily construction industry trends and requirements.
  • Deliver CEU lunch & learns virtually and in person.
  • Provide training and educational resources to architects and designers regarding the features, benefits, and applications of LP products.
  • Develop and implement processes, trainings, and best practices for the broader sales team to leverage locally with architects.

Sales Strategy & Growth:

  • Call on architects, specifiers, engineers & designers as applicable to multifamily new construction.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of projects, tracking leads and opportunities using Salesforce.
  • Partner closely with National Account Managers to help develop new relationships, establish targets, share leads, and promote products.
  • Foster collaboration between sales, marketing, product development, and R&D to ensure a unified approach to product positioning and sales strategies.
  • Stay up to date with industry standards and regulations and educate customers accordingly.
  • Be responsible for the sampling needs of architects and designers.
  • Actively be involved in industry associations and attend trade shows and events to promote LP’s product offering.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Track and report on specification and sales performance, market trends, and competitive analysis.
  • Use data-driven insights to identify opportunities for improvement and adjust strategies and tactics, as necessary.

What do I need to be successful?

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Broad knowledge of architectural and construction processes, building codes, materials, and trends.
  • Proven history in field sales or segment management, particularly within the architectural and/or building materials industry.
  • Experience working in Construct Connect a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to develop and execute business plans and sales strategies.
  • Analytical skills to assess market trends and make data-driven decisions.
  • Willingness to travel nationally as required to meet with clients and attend industry events.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years of previous sales, marketing, or architectural experience
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, architecture, or a related field.

Work Environment

  • Home office (Remote)
  • Up to 60% national travel
