Job Description:
Job Purpose
Support the corporate tax department by assisting with the preparation, review, and analysis of federal, state, and local tax filings, as well as other compliance and reporting requirements. Working as part of a small, collaborative team, ensure accurate and timely reporting while helping to identify process improvements and maintain compliance with evolving tax regulations.
In this position you will have the opportunity to:
- Prepare workpapers for federal, state/provincial, and local corporate income tax returns (U.S. and Canada)
- Assist with quarterly and annual income tax provisions, including deferred tax calculations and reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, Canadian tax rules, and internal reporting requirements
- Research and interpret U.S. federal, state, and Canadian tax laws and regulations
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments to assess potential impact on the company
- Provide support during IRS, CRA, and state/provincial audits
- Prepare workpapers, reconciliations, and responses to inquiries from tax authorities
- Assist with sales & use tax, GST/HST, PST/QST, and property tax filings
- Coordinate with external advisors as needed
What do I need to be successful?
- 1-2 years of public or private accounting in corporate income tax
- Or any equivalent combination of experience or training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in work
- Focused and driven team member who is dependable and takes ownership of assignments
- Ability to research, interpret and document findings and conclusions in tax memoranda
- High sense of accountability, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and follow-through on all assignments
- Leads through knowledge sharing, team support, and active contribution to a positive workplace culture
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with colleagues across departments
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with changes in tax law and regulations
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field
- CPA or Master’s degree a plus
Work Environment
- This position will work at home and in our Nashville office on a hybrid schedule
- Must live within a commutable distance to Nashville or willing to relocate to the greater Nashville area
