Job Purpose

To lead the definition of standards and management processes in support of corporate centralized and distributed IT services. Provide alignment with business requirements, implementation, and ongoing availability of critical IT services for the business. Provide high-level technical support, installation, and maintenance on IT systems and selected applications to ensure stable system performance.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Responsible for the design, operation, and availability of core IT services and devices used by LP system users, applications, customers, and business partners.
  • Determine root cause of system or application problems with medium to high levels of complexity
  • Mentor staff on root cause analysis and other quality improvement techniques
  • Coordinate with service providers, system and software vendors, and LP teams to implement IT services supporting a wide variety of business requirements.
  • Responsible for the management of operating systems including Windows and LINUX
  • Responsible for management of operating system security and virus protection software.
  • Responsible for leading the architecture, implementation, and management of Microsoft Active Directory and other enterprise services
  • Responsible for leading the implementation and administration of corporate databases supporting business-critical applications using Microsoft SQL or Oracle
  • Develop and maintain processes to assure consistent performance and availability of database instances
  • Development and management of automated system management processe
  • Create and maintain processes for consistent system replication and deployment
  • Deploy and manage new systems utilizing dedicated hardware, VMWare, or external service providers
  • Lead the development and maintain appropriate documentation on system specifications and operating instructions, applying knowledge of disk management (including SAN-based systems), file systems, disk partitioning, and redundancy.
  • Coordinate with application teams to lead the design of effective and efficient architectures or service implementations, supporting business requirements
  • Monitor system hardware for failures; coordinate replacements; plan and implement upgrades to meet business needs
  • Manage back-up, off-site storage and retention policies; automate and perform back-ups; restore files as needed.
  • Development and implementation of enterprise monitoring systems for availability and functionality monitoring
  • Administer Microsoft Exchange email, corporate fax services, software development tools, or other enterprise applications as required.
  • Development and deployment of lab and development environments for application teams
  • Development, testing, and documentation of disaster recovery processes
  • Lead the development and monitoring processes for security procedures to safeguard the systems from unauthorized use, viruses, or data damage.
  • Plan, install, maintain, and approve operating systems, updates, and related software.
  • Monitor systems for stable performance; troubleshoot and resolve service or operating system problems.
  • Develop standards and administer system and user accounts
  • Frequently required to be on-call on a 24x7 basis to respond to priority problems
  • Responsible for performing repairs and system upgrades outside of normal business hours.

What do I need to be successful?

  • 7 plus years of related experience
  • Or any combination of education, experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
  • Expert working knowledge of two or more of the following systems and how they interact with applications: Windows, LINUX, Oracle and MS SQL databases).
  • Strong working knowledge of system commands, utilities, and system administration tasks for the above operating systems
  • Broad working knowledge and understanding of operating system and application interface concepts
  • Experience evaluating, managing, and defining agreements with service providers
  • Excellent demonstrated working knowledge of system process management best practices
  • In-depth working knowledge of hardware/software systems, including various hardware types as well as virtual hardware systems such as VMWare.
  • Working knowledge of network concepts, protocols, applications, and tools.
  • Strong experience in managing MS active directory or other enterprise services
  • Strong working knowledge of disk management (including SAN technologies), file systems, disk partitioning, and redundancy.
  • High level of knowledge and experience with database and application interface support
  • Excellent level of knowledge and experience with security processes and industry best practice
  • Expert level of knowledge and experience supporting redundant systems and with disaster recovery plan development and testing
  • Good ability to understand and write programs or scripts in support of system management automation
  • Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business requirements and translate into practical technical and process-based solutions
  • Strong project management and team-based skills
  • Strong customer-service skills.
  • Ability to support systems remotely using a variety of access methods.
  • Good working knowledge and preferred certification in ITIL methodologies
  • Ability to respond to help calls on a 24x7 basis.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
