Job Purpose
Under the direction of the Director, Strategic Marketing, the Sr. Manager of Segment and Portfolio Strategy is responsible for LP’s segment strategy and portfolio management efforts to ensure market, customer, and channel needs are translated into clear business and portfolio priorities.
The Senior Manager, Segment & Portfolio Strategy serves as the connection between the market and LP’s portfolio—ensuring LP understands where to play, what customers need, how the portfolio should compete, and where the organization should invest to deliver sustainable, profitable growth. This role leads the Segment Management team and owns the development of strategies across LP’s priority market segments, including understanding market dynamics, customer needs, competitive activity, growth opportunities, and barriers to adoption. The role connects these insights to LP’s portfolio strategy, helping determine where LP should play, how the portfolio should be positioned, and where future growth opportunities exist.
In addition, this position leads portfolio management activities including portfolio architecture, Good-Better-Best strategy, portfolio optimization, product positioning, and value proposition development. The Senior Manager works closely with Product Management, Sales, Channel Marketing, Brand, Innovation, and other cross-functional partners to ensure LP’s portfolio and commercialization priorities are grounded in customer needs and support profitable growth.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

Lead and develop the Segment Management team, establishing clear priorities, expectations, and accountability for segment growth strategies.

Develop and maintain comprehensive strategies for LP’s priority customer and market segments.

Establish a consistent segment planning framework that defines market size, growth opportunities, customer needs, competitive dynamics, portfolio requirements, and commercial priorities.

Partner closely with Sales and other commercial leaders to understand regional and segment-specific opportunities and translate those insights into actionable strategies.

Ensure segment strategies are connected to annual business planning, portfolio priorities, innovation opportunities, and go-to-market execution.

Lead portfolio strategy and optimization efforts to ensure LP has the right products, solutions, and positioning to address customer needs and achieve long-term growth objectives.

Develop and maintain portfolio architecture, including Good-Better-Best positioning, to simplify customer choice, strengthen differentiation, and protect the sale.

Evaluate portfolio performance and recommend opportunities to invest, grow, optimize, reposition, rationalize, or exit.

Partner with Product Management to translate segment needs and portfolio gaps into product roadmap and innovation priorities.

Lead the development and evolution of differentiated value propositions across LP’s portfolio.

Ensure value propositions are grounded in customer insights and clearly communicate why LP’s solutions matter to each target audience.

Ensure core product value propositions can be effectively translated and delivered across all segments and channels while maintaining consistent strategic positioning.

Partner with Product Management, Training, Channel Marketing, Brand, and Sales Enablement to ensure value propositions are incorporated into commercialization plans, customer experiences, training, and selling tools.
What do I need to be successful?

7+ years of experience in product marketing or management, commercial training, sales enablement, or learning & development.

Experience leading and developing teams.

Executive presence and communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences.

Strong presentation, facilitation, and instructional design skills.

Excellent cross-functional collaboration and project management skills.

Experience within building products, construction, manufacturing or channel-driven businesses preferred.
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Product Management, Strategy, Construction Management, or related field.
Work Environment
Hybrid Office Environment –Travel up to 20%
