Job Purpose

As a member of the Sales & Marketing Operations Team, the senior business development analyst will leverage strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills to drive data-based insights into a wide range of business projects. This role requires becoming an expert on internal and external data sources, working with key partners across multiple functional areas, and translating complex analysis into clear, actionable recommendations. The results from the analysis will be used to advise key decision-makers and drive LP’s segment and business strategies and tactics.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Analyzes internal and third-party data, along with relevant stakeholders, to identify trends, evaluate opportunities, and drive business solutions.
  • Approaches business challenges using structured problem-solving techniques to analyze issues, assess viable solutions, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Synthesize complex data into concise, impactful presentations, ensuring that insights are easily understood by stakeholders at all levels.
  • Through collaboration, provides accurate and timely reports to leadership, including but not limited to sales performance, financial health, market trends, industry activities, ROI analysis, and general forecasts. 
  • Participates in and coordinates the annual budget development process for the assigned groups, assisting business units in preparation for the Board meetings.
  • Designs, develops, and maintains standard periodic reporting formats.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as necessary.

What do I need to be successful?

  • Experience analyzing sales data and obtaining meaningful insights.
  • Strong ability to communicate insights effectively and recommend clear, actionable solutions.
  • 5+ years’ sales analysis, financial analysis, or accounting experience.
  • Or any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
  • Hands-on experience with Excel, Tableau, and Salesforce.com preferred.
  • Knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., root cause analysis or hypothesis-driven problem solving) preferred.
  • Knowledge of sales performance management preferred.

  • The ability to effectively work on a small team where members are expected to take on significant responsibility
  • Resourcefulness, with an ability to concur ambiguity and find solutions where they are not obvious
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of sales and marketing concepts
  • Knowledge of forest products and building industry preferred
  • Knowledge of current statistical analysis tools, metrics, and software
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and presentation skills
  • Skill in trend and forecast modeling
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills
  • Ability to work independently and interact with a team and other functional groups
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree. MBA preferred. 

Work Environment

  • Hybrid: Office/Remote environment 
  • Some travel required
