Job Purpose

The SAP OTC Solutions Architect will be responsible for supporting the business process areas for LP’s Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service and Logistics/Transportation areas.  The successful candidate will have experience implementing, supporting, and enhancing solutions on the SAP platform that supports the SAP OTC business processes.  They will serve as a SME and solution advisor for how to solve for complex business problems.  They will work closely with the business groups to understand business problems, issues, and priorities.  They will also work with 3rd party resources for solution design/delivery and managing pipeline demand and prioritization and will work with internal and external resources to deliver value-add solutions to LP’s businesses.  They will be the focal point for all technical aspects and will work with internal and external resources for requirements gathering, development/delivery of requested changes, testing & documentation, and the ongoing support in the production environment.  They will also work with LP’s service providers to manage delivery of changes, where appropriate.  The ideal candidate will be able to find/vet/recommend new solutions for the business, able to help craft business strategy and improvement to existing processes, as well as implement solutions identified.  Experience with CRM systems (e.g; Salesforce) is a plus.  Experience with SAP SD processes, including Order Entry, Available to Promise, Shipping, Shipment Cost, Delivery, Invoicing, Billing, and Pricing is required.  A successful Candidate should have strong configuration experience, ability to determine when to use configuration vs. code as well as advanced troubleshooting skills and a basic understanding of various touchpoints to other modules, such as MM/FI/CO-PA (e.g; payments, account determination, revenue recognition, accruals, STO’s, etc)

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as internal consultant and design architect for SAP solution within specific modules. Partner with peers in the IT organization and fellow Functional Architects and Business Analysts to align business processes with solution design, leveraging the capabilities of the SAP modules.
  • Responsible for the full systems development lifecycle from requirements gathering through implementation of various functional architecture solutions.
  • Translate overall business process requirements to SAP configuration.
  • Advise on the management of configuration and testing across the SAP environment.
  • Support the identification of enhancement opportunities to standardize/improve processes and system configuration that supports the customer-focused approach, but ensures compliance to the business management goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with Functional Architects and Business Analysts to ensure end to end process integration and consistency
  • Develop, prototype, test and implement solution improvements to increase stability, usability and functionality to enable end users to meet business objectives
  • Lead and support project initiatives to expand the usage of the SAP solution to improve and expand processes across the enterprise.
  • Understand non-SAP business systems and their interaction with SAP. Assist in the management of those systems as part of an overall solution portfolio.
  • Provides functional support and leadership to SAP User Community including: interaction with Third-Party Support Providers, definition of SOPs, gathering business requirements, documenting functional designs and specifications, and evaluating / directing enhancements.
  • Identifies training needs and supports CoE Training Manager in the development & delivery of training content.
  • Researches and analyzes basic and complex issues surrounding LP’s business processes and systems.
  • Collaborate with Master Data Management team to provide solution architecture input on strategy and initiatives to support management reporting requirements.
  • Mentor business and functional team members to increase their competency in SAP.
  • Perform all duties according to company policies and safety rules and regulations.

Skills, knowledge, abilities:

  • Current SAP configuration experience & certification in specified modules.
  • Manufacturing Industry experience.
  • Knowledge of SAP Solution Manager and SAP IBP a plus
  • ABAP experience is desired 
  • Knowledge of SAP Business Planning & Consolidation (BPC) a plus.
  • Experience using SAP implementation methods.
  • Business process analysis and redesign experience: strong business analysis skills; process mapping; business process redesign and implementation
  • Systems implementation skills: requirements/process analysis, conceptual and detailed design, configuration, testing, training, change management, support
  • Effectively promote process best practices
  • Excellent interaction skills
  • Communication skills: strong presentation/ communication / facilitation skills (oral and written)
  • Works well with teams or in a team environment, with the ability to work independently. Proven team leadership, mentoring, and project management skills.

  • Super-User Level of Proficiency in SAP in one or more Process Streams (OTC, PTP, DTS, FTM)
  • Strong time management skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and handle large workloads.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office and Windows software applications.


  • Four-year college bachelor degree.


  • Minimum of 7 years SAP experience, with detailed experience in all core ECC modules.
  • 3+ full lifecycle implementations including: Requirements gathering, Scoping and Planning, Process Design, Configuration, Testing, Deployment, and Post Go-Live Support
  • 1 Full cycle implementation experience in S4
  • Experience with all aspects of the system implementation including, but not limited to, gathering requirements, designing the future state solution, the development objects related to their process scope, as well as supporting testing and post implementation support
  • Experience with system design, configuration, customization, integration, testing and support
  • Knowledge of integration points and the order in which these must be executed
  • Experience working with design, implementation, and support of knowledge management solutions and related technologies for collaborative information sharing
  • Experience with gap analysis and strategic roadmap/blueprint development
  • Previous supervisor and/or leadership experience desired
  • Demonstrated business acumen required
  • ERP certification(s) preferred
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.

Work Environment

  • Both an office and manufacturing environment.
  • Minimal travel (10% or less)
