Job Purpose

As a part of the Data and Analytics function, the Data Engineer will support business and IT partners and will be responsible for managing the Data & Analytics’ ETL and reporting platforms to cleanse, validate, and prepare the data for consumption. The engineer will work with internal and external resources for requirements gathering, development/delivery of requested changes, testing & documentation, and the ongoing support in the production environment. The Data Engineer will also work with LP’s service providers to manage delivery of changes, where appropriate.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Design, implement, and support a platform providing secured access to large datasets 
  • Design, build, deploy, and maintain data pipelines for usage by business partners, reporting, data science, and other use cases 
  • Help deliver complete BI and Machine Learning solutions 
  • Define backend and frontend architecture (reliable and scalable solutions)
  • Model data and metadata to support ad-hoc and enterprise reporting
  • Support the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions
  • Leverage and integrate with different tools, technologies, and products within LP to reduce overall operational cost and enhance customer experience
  • Respond to and prioritize priority requests from business partners 
  • Build strong relationships and work across cross-functional teams 
  • Research best practices, support solution development, and provide recommendations to improve business operations 
  • Work with the internal or external client to identify analytical requirements 
  • Establish and maintain scalable data processing procedures and policies 
  • Provide subject matter expertise to translate and communicate complex data processes to stakeholders at all levels of technical competency 
  • Help to produce ad hoc data and reporting
  • Assist in developing and/or implementing systems to capture business operation information
  • Follow and support data governance, access controls, and established architecture to ensure appropriate access to data
  • Perform other duties as necessary 

What do I need to be successful?

  • 6-8 years of relevant experience 
  • SQL 
  • Snowflake or other cloud data lake experience 
  • DBT/Alteryx/or similar ETL tools 
  • Azure Dev Ops and Azure Portal account and storage management 
  • Python or other scripting languages
  • Experience with API development
  • Experience with integration into reporting platforms, like Tableau, Power BI, SAP BI
  • Javascript/JSON, preferred 

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software or computer engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience. 
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position. 

 

Work Environment 

  • This position will work at home and in our Nashville office on a hybrid schedule
  • Must be within a commutable distance to Nashville or willing to relocate to the greater Nashville area
