Job Purpose

This role will be responsible for performing technical and operational duties necessary to process payroll, and assist customers with payroll questions and issues. The ideal candidate possesses effective communication skills and demonstrates the ability to learn technical job functions quickly. The ideal candidate is an aspiring professional who wants to begin or expand their career in payroll.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide accurate and timely data entry into the HR/Payroll system to include hires, job changes, promotions, terminations and other data associated with Human Resources and Payroll while maintaining production standards.
  • Trace and correct errors to ensure accurate processing.
  • Processes all personnel and employment data changes.
  • Ensure accurate wage and deduction calculations during the payroll production process.
  • Preparing manual payments, reversals, and wage adjustments for employees, including final payment and accounting adjustments.
  • Send original documents to payroll garnishment vendor to answer and process wage order notifications and deductions. Remit to applicable agencies per standards for any questions regarding IWOs and verification of employment for garnishment purposes.
  • Provide timely response to requests and concerns expressed by internal and external customers.
  • Maintain specialized payroll tax and accounting procedures per standards and modify in response to regulatory changes.
  • Partner with Human Resources Department and other areas regarding Human Resources and Payroll issues.
  • May develop queries; generate and distribute reports.
  • Assist Supervisor as needed with preparation of payroll tax filings, returns and funds transfers.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What do I need to be successful?

  • 0-2 years’ experience working in a Human Resources, Finance, or Payroll, preferably in a multiple entity, multi-state environment. 
  • Experience using integrated payroll systems (specifically Ultimate software or UKG) preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to learn in a faced paced work environment.
  • Can maintain confidentiality with sensitive information

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) through the American Payroll Association preferred, or willingness to obtain. 

Work Environment

  • This position will work at home and in our Nashville office on a hybrid schedule.
  • Must be within a commutable distance to Nashville or willing to relocate to the greater Nashville area.
