Job Purpose

LP is looking for a qualified person to lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of network services that support our application and business requirements.  This person will lead the development of network technical standards and application interface standards as well as provide technical assistance, problem isolation, and resolution of network, system, and application interconnectivity problems. We will also look for this position to evaluate new technologies, services, hardware, software, telecommunications equipment and related network aspects; recommend and apply architectures, purchases or upgrades to ensure optimal levels of network functionality, reliability, security and performance.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Responsible for leading the design, implementation, operation standards, and availability of core network services and devices used by LP system users, applications, and business partners.
  • Responsible for understanding current and prospective business and related technical needs of the organization and planning for current and future infrastructure and network administration capabilities to optimally support them.
  • Define and manage implementation and support of architectural elements integrating with service providers, internal networks and services, Internet, and business partner interfaces.
  • Implement and manage network firewalls interfacing with the Internet and within private networks.
  • Analyze network loads, traffic, and utilization trends; and configuration.
  • Coordinate with application teams to lead the design of effective and efficient architectures or service implementations, supporting business requirements.
  • Monitor system hardware for failures; coordinate replacements; plan and implement upgrades to meet business needs.
  • Determine root cause of networking problems with high levels of complexity.
  • Train IT team members on networking, service delivery, and service quality as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with IT teams and vendors in determining new or upgraded services; coordinate repair and upgrades.
  • Manage network equipment including switches, routers, wireless and other remote access devices and methods.
  • Lead the design and documentation standards for network configurations.
  • Support voice (VOIP) and other priority traffic over the network.
  • Install and customize network system software and patches to allow for the smooth exchange of data in and between locations.
  • Frequently required to be on-call outside of normal business hours to respond to reported problems.
  • Responsible for performing repairs and system upgrades outside of normal business hours.
  • Responsible for the management of Load Balancers.
  • Responsible for the design, implementation and management of Software Defined WAN/LAN  (SD WAN/LAN)
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What do I need to be successful?

  • 5-10 years of experience in the field of networking.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of LP staff, service providers, business partners, and customers.
  • Extensive working knowledge of network hardware and software and how they interact.
  • In-depth working knowledge and experience managing Cisco, HP, Symantec, Palo Alto, and other brands of other networking equipment.
  • Extensive experience evaluating, managing, developing agreements and working with service providers.
  • In-depth understanding and working knowledge of network protocols and best practices.
  • Extensive working knowledge of network hardware, wireless connectivity, wiring, switches, routers, etc.
  • Expert working knowledge and experience managing Palo Alto brand firewalls.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects with mid or high levels of complexity.
  • Ability to support systems remotely using a variety of access methods.
  • Ability to respond to service calls outside of normal business hours.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks according to severity.
  • Ability to learn and apply new technology.
  • Good working knowledge and experience working with next-generation firewalls.
  • Network and security certifications or equivalent knowledge required.


  • Specialized certifications desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science a plus.
