Job Purpose


Develop, lead, direct, and drive Reliability, as measured by enhanced OEE, across LP’s manufacturing facilities, ensuring improved asset management, alignment with corporate, business, function, and mill strategic goals and synergy with parallel initiatives (e.g. Continuous Improvement, Growth & Innovation).  Advocate and champion a Total Productive Maintenance practice at LP including  culture, principles, philosophy, and tools. 

Key Responsibilities


  • ​​​​​​​Professionally and systematically define, design, develop, monitor and refine Asset Maintenance Plans that includes value-added preventive maintenance tasks and effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems
  • Provide leadership and guidance in the development and activities of the Corporate and Plant Reliability Engineers
  • Provide leadership, training, and coaching to Maintenance Personnel to implement Maintenance Best Practices and Improvement Initiatives at the plant level across LP.
  • Develop, refine, and lead Root Cause analysis processes and training across the organization.
  • Develop input for new ideas and concepts for establishing Maintenance Best Practices Company wide.
  • Actively manage a functional group and be accountable for results, reporting and updates including opportunity identification and related action plans.  
  • Provide leadership, training and coaching to enhance the functionality and usage of the CMMS (Infor EAM).  The Corporate Reliability Specialist will represent the maintenance function on the EAM Team.
  • Assume responsibility for personal compliance with all safety requirements and include safe practices in all implemented processes.
  • Lead the development of Maintenance Best Practice training documents.
  • Provide leadership, training and coaching to Plant Maintenance Personnel to insure that Maintenance Best Practices are clearly understood and implemented properly.
  • Coordinate Improvement activities with regional and plant managers to meet the needs and priorities of the respective businesses.
  • Observe maintenance practices at plants and leverage innovative and superior ideas and practices to other businesses and plant.
  • Conduct assessments and provide comprehensive reports of the gaps between desired levels of performance and the actual levels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work within the department budget.



Skills, knowledge, abilities:


  • Thorough knowledge of the function and capabilities of CMMS systems.  (Infor EAM Preferred)
  • Knowledge of world-class maintenance techniques, practices and methodologies.
  • Proven team leadership and project management skills; ability to influence change.
  • Strategic thinking skills.
  • Results oriented with the ability to bring teams together to achieve targets and goals.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills; ability to effectively manage multiple demanding priorities.
  • Effective performance management skills, such as employee skill development, establishing and measuring performance goals, designing and delivering training, and performance coaching.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills




  • BS degree in Engineering or related field. Master degree preferred.
  • Reliability certification desired (CMRP or equivalent)




  • 15+ years’ experience in Engineering or Plant Maintenance.
  • 5+ years’ experience in leading maintenance improvement practices, specifically Industrial Asset reliability practices
  • Minimum 5 years’ direct management experience in an engineering, maintenance, and/or reliability environment
  • Experience in Forest or Building Products Industry preferred.
  • Or any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.

Work Environment


  • This position works in both an office environment and in a manufacturing environment. i.e., climbing ladders and stairs, working in hot and dusty environments for up to 10 hours and occasional carrying or lifting of 40 lb equipment.
  • Heavy travel requiring a flexible schedule is required.
