Job Purpose

This leadership position is responsible for overseeing the strategy, design, and execution of enterprise architecture, data engineering, and system integration. This role has overall responsibility for the planning and operation of a business outcome driven enterprise architecture (BODEA) practice, including technical architecture, solution architecture, data & integration architecture, data engineering, business process architecture, and AI/ML initiatives. Contributes to the information technology strategy and executes the strategy and tactics related to enterprise architecture & engineering to provide reliable, resilient, high-performing, scalable, and value-driven services. 

The role will work with executive leadership, internal and external stakeholders, and key technology partners.    

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Owner of LP Enterprise Architecture & Engineering (EAE) practice. Oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of EAE policies, standards, governance, and procedures. Develops and maintains the EAE vision, strategy, and principles to guide technology decision-making across the organization.
  • Serves as an expert advisor to the CIO and executive leadership by developing, implementing, and maintaining a strong EAE program and technology roadmap.
  • Establish and oversee governance processes to ensure compliance with architectural standards and best practices. Establishes the integration patterns of cloud services with on premise application and infrastructure services. 
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of an optimized digital manufacturing architecture based on EAE principles that facilitate business agility and operational efficiency.
  • Introduces innovative, differentiating EAE services that maximize the value of our technology investments.
  • Works with the IT senior leadership team on the service portfolio and governance required to prioritize resources, including budget. Works with key stakeholders to measure and prioritize the design of an architecture roadmap to remediate technical debt.
  • Work closely with business leaders and IT teams to understand their needs and translate them into effective, scalable technology solutions that facilitate business capabilities. Provide technical content for relevant IT policies and standards.
  • Builds successful stakeholder relationships with other IT and business stakeholders by developing a clear understanding of business outcomes, acting as a trusted internal advisor, and ensuring cost-effective design & delivery of EAE services to meet those needs.
  • Develops and controls the annual EAE budget to ensure consistency with the overall strategic objectives of IT. Creates and maintains a culture of continuous cost optimization.
  • Assesses emerging technologies for applicability to business objectives, leading proof-of-concept projects, and identifying design opportunities for automation.
  • Oversees the AI and Machine Learning program and leads the AI Governance Board to ensure proper review, prioritization, and execution of AI/ML use cases that maximize business value creation.
  • Operates a formal governance mechanism to establish and monitor effective controls for the processes and functions performed by the EAE team. Chairs the Architecture Review Board and ensures a proper balance between necessary governance and agile delivery of business outcomes. Supports periodic reviews by audit, compliance and other risk-related functions, as required.
  • Create and maintain architectural blueprints, roadmaps, and documentation to guide development and integration efforts.
  • Manage and maintain the strategy, platforms and engineering team for LP’s data assets, including design and execution of data engineering & integration activities, data cloud strategy, and the associated integration platforms. 
  • Accountable for development of data asset governance programs, data lineage, data security, and data platform integration.
  • Supports the Business Relationship Management, IT Operations, Infrastructure, and Cybersecurity Teams by implementing EAE services that align to LP’s business strategies and long-term objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What do I need to be successful?

  •  10+ years of experience in Enterprise Architecture & Data Engineering or equivalent knowledge.
  • 10+ years of senior-level IT leadership experience leading an Enterprise Architecture & Data Engineering practice.
  • Or any combination of education, experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
  • Conceptual Thinker: Designs and refines organizational strategies for both the present and future, in a fast-paced, ever-changing, global digital and technology arena 
  • Communicates for Impact: Consistently and persistently ensures that vision of LPs enterprise architecture, data engineering, and system integration programs are clearly communicated to key leaders and that they are able to help others translate the vision into action.
  • Propensity to Lead: Achieves long-term strategies by successfully influencing initiatives to key leaders in Technology, Business Units, and other Functional Departments.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture and Data Engineering in SAP, Salesforce, Aveva MES, Snowflake, and/or other similar platforms. Experience with LeanIX a plus.
  • Understanding of Enterprise Architecture and Data Engineering best practices, ideally using modern EA methodologies such as BODEA or EA as an Internal Consultancy. 
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal) including effective presentation and training skills to all levels of the organization and the ability to communicate in business terms.
  • Excellent people management skills, and able to grow/develop/mentor talent.
  • Effective PC skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Visio, MS Project etc.).
  • Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of LP staff from individual contributors to the executive team, as well as key 3rd party consultants, technology vendors, or service providers.
  • Able to multi-task and work effectively in a fast paced and demanding environment. 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent business degree with Master in Information Systems or Information Security. 
  • Relevant enterprise architecture certifications preferred.
  • Extensive work experience and certifications may be substituted for college degree.

Work Environment

  • This position will work at home and in our Nashville office on a hybrid schedule
  • Must live within a commutable distance to Nashville or willing to relocate to the greater Nashville area
  • Occasional travel
