Job Purpose

The Data Engineer II will be a key contributor to our Enterprise Data and Analytics organization responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data infrastructure and pipelines. Building on your foundational knowledge in data engineering, you will take on more advanced responsibilities, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the availability and reliability of data for analytics and business intelligence purposes. You will develop data models to meet the needs of the organization's data systems, manage and support the flow of information between analytics solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Data & Analytics’ ETL and reporting platforms to cleanse, validate, and prepare the data for consumption. Duties include supporting the business process areas for LP’s Master Data Governance, Business Intelligence, interfaces to/from SAP and Snowflake, and other automation tools, as needed. You will work with internal and external resources for requirements gathering, development/delivery of requested changes, testing & documentation, and the ongoing support in the production environment. You will also work with LP’s service providers to manage delivery of changes, where appropriate.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable/efficient data pipelines for ETL data from diverse sources.
  • Collaborate with data architects and data engineers to optimize and enhance existing data processes.
  • Work closely with data scientists, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements.
  • Design, implement, and support a platform providing secured access to large datasets.
  • Model data and metadata to support ad-hoc and enterprise reporting.
  • Support the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions.
  • Leverage and integrate with different tools, technologies, and products within LP to reduce overall operational cost and enhance customer experience.
  • Develop and maintain data models to support business requirements and facilitate data analytics.
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and adherence to data governance standards.
  • Research best practices, support solution development, and provide recommendations to improve business operations.
  • Establish and maintain scalable data processing procedures and policies.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to stakeholders at all levels of technical competency.
  • Stay abreast of emerging data engineering tools and technologies.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools that enhance the efficiency and capabilities of the data engineering infrastructure.

What do I need to be successful?

  • 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, SQL, or Scala.
  • Solid understanding of ETL processes, data modeling, and database management.
  • Experience with Snowflake required, and other cloud-based data platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with API development.
  • Experience with integration into reporting platforms, like Tableau, Power BI, SAP BI.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software or computer engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Work Environment

  • This position will work at home and in our Nashville office on a hybrid schedule
  • Must be within a commutable distance to Nashville or willing to relocate to the greater Nashville area
