Job Purpose
This role is a creative communications professional with experience in developing and executing high-visibility external communications programs and campaigns. The position reports to the director of Corporate Communications and is responsible for enhancing and protecting LP’s corporate reputation and helping to accelerate the business using a variety of tactics, including public relations, social media, community relations, and more.
In this position you will have the opportunity to:
- Develop and execute strategic communications and PR plans that reinforce LP’s leadership in the specialty building products industry
- Support the development and execution of communications strategies and tactics related to thought leadership, social impact, ESG (environmental, social, and governance), DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), issues management, and more
- Develop external corporate communications materials, including press releases, FAQs, pitch letters, bylines, media kits, and executive presentations
- Research, write, and promote communications to targeted media and influencers
- Draft briefing docs for executives and senior leaders in advance of speaking opportunities and media interviews
- Work cross functionally across the organization to identify compelling storylines for media relations
- Manage corporate social media strategy, develop content, and analyze results
- Provide support for community relations, philanthropy, and LP Foundation activities
- Evaluate and manage corporate award submissions and thought leadership speaking opportunities
- Works across all businesses, functions and levels of the company to accomplish goals
- Ensure all materials are compliant with company and brand guidelines
- Maintain an understanding of industry trends affecting our brands and make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategies
- Determine KPIs and monitor, analyze, and communicate results on a monthly basis
- Identify and manage local issues which may have an impact our reputation; develop proactive and reactive messaging to mitigate potential issues
- Perform other duties as necessary
What do I need to be successful?
- A minimum of 3 years relevant experience, preferably in a corporate or agency setting
- Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position
- Journalism experience a plus
- Passionate storyteller with demonstrated expertise of the media landscape; able to proactively identify and tell unique narratives that support communications objectives
- Expertise in corporate communication programs, campaigns, and channels, with a track record of success developing, executing, and measuring effective plans
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills to ensure flawless execution of projects to accomplish objectives
- Proficiency navigating media relations, including traditional and digital outlets
- Experience in handling reputational issues and crisis communications
- Highly organized with strong project management skills, including managing multiple projects at different stages simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Social media savvy
- Understanding of advanced media monitoring and analytics tools
- Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship management, enabling work with multiple stakeholders, handle multiple projects, and meet new challenges with composure and confidence
- Ability to interact with and influence all levels of employees across the organization and external stakeholders
- Ability to translate complex concepts, tools, and platforms into communications that resonates with external audiences
- Demonstrate creative thinking and the ability to anticipate issues of concern
- Ability to work independently, to take initiative, and to function effectively in a team environment
- Must demonstrate sound judgment and be able to deal with ambiguity and handle sensitive situations
- Aptitude to protect sensitive and confidential information
- Strong strategic thinking, execution, and overall business acumen
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations or related field
Work Environment
- This position will work at home and in our Nashville office on a hybrid schedule
- Must be within a commutable distance to Nashville or willing to relocate to the greater Nashville area
- Occasional travel
