Job Purpose

As an Analytics Engineer, you'll work in our Data and Analytics organization as a member of one of the IT teams responsible for creating datasets for analytical purposes, including datasets for end users to import into desktop tools, and datasets to import into analytics and BI tools. The analytics engineer can use the curated area of the enterprise data repository as the source for these types of data products or services and can help build semantic layers and models that enable the rest of the organization to consume analytics more efficiently. They also help with building the data pipelines that feed into data science and machine learning models. You'll collaborate with our business partners to develop detailed designs, functional and technical specifications for business solutions and work with the team to develop standard and custom BI reporting solutions.  You'll gain exposure to corporate wide scenarios that require excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively multi-task. In addition, you'll be involved in training business users using an integrated BI solution leveraging all of LP’s business applications.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Collaborates with stakeholders to understand their analytics needs and deliver comprehensive reports, dashboards, and models
  • Delivers well-defined, transformed, tested, documented, and code-reviewed datasets for analysis
  • Builds data aggregation pipelines using Python, Spark, or SQL
  • Creates robust data models and architectures to support analytics initiatives
  • Identifies and implements optimizations to continually enhance query performance, reduce processing time, and increase overall productivity
  • Designs, develops and maintains data pipelines to ensure efficient and reliable ETL processes
  • Implements and maintains analytics systems, data warehouses, or data lakes to store and manage structured and unstructured data
  • Creates and maintains dashboards, visualizations, and reports using tools such as Tableau and Power BI to enable data-driven decision-making
  • Collaborates with data scientists to integrate predictive models or machine learning algorithms into analytics workflows
  • Ensures data quality and accuracy by implementing data validation, monitoring, and error-handling processes
  • Work directly with internal customers to develop more efficient processes and ways to use Business Intelligence applications.
  • Maintain system and application documentation for assigned systems and/or projects.
  • Develop and provide training to end-users on BI applications software.
  • Develop and maintain ad hoc reports.
  • Develop and document test plans, new procedures, training, and communications for end-users.
  • Coordinate with business units and technical staff on IT projects.
  • Interface with vendors and internal customers as appropriate.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with all audit and SOX initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of strategic plans in the BI area.
  • Design and create data models that allow end-users to understand and evaluate information within datasets. These models serve as clear and helpful visual representations.

What do I need to be successful?

  • 4+ years demonstrated experience in data analytics, data engineering, software engineering, or a similar role
  • Expertise in data modeling, ETL development, and data analysis
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong ability in SQL for data extraction and manipulation, and proficiency in data warehousing concepts/tools such as Snowflake
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present insights to business stakeholders
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS and Azure for data storage and processing
  • Substantial programming ability using languages/tools such as Python, JavaScript for data manipulation and scripting
  • Solid understanding of relevant data governance, data quality, and data security best practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to think critically and analytically
  • Knowledge of ETL processes, data integration, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Experience and working knowledge with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills

  • Effective PC skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, NetMeeting, Visio, MS Project etc.)

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, statistics, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Work Environment

  • This position will work at home and in our Nashville office on a hybrid schedule
  • Must currently live within the Nashville area
