Job Purpose

Leads the design, development, and delivery of training programs that meet the needs of the organization. The Training Coordinator will ensure training programs are delivered in a cost effective manner that fully utilizes technology and training resources to maximize the benefit to the organization.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop measures & processes for assessing quality and effectiveness of programs (i.e. knowledge transfer has occurred, and skills are developing / behaviors changing). Caretaker of employee Job Transfer process and documentation
  • Develop tools that bridge the gap between theory and practical application. Identifies and assigns mentors – tracks mentorship progress to completion e.g. employee is deemed competent and no longer requires a mentor
  • Work with employees to become local on-site trainers. Identifies key personnel to be developed as trainers (Train the Trainer Model)
  • Annually develops with input of supervisors, team leaders, managers an annual training plan and budget which will identify safety, maintenance, and operational training requirements for the upcoming year. Assists in development of site Annual EHS Training Plans
  • Conduct a training needs assessment periodically and confers with management to identify and prioritize training requirements for the organization
  • Create and maintain a training system that allows the organization to fully meet its training obligations i.e. tracks employee training, certifications, qualifications, and competency utilizing a system. (Safety, production, maintenance) in the most costefficient manner possible
  • Create and maintain training records including expiry dates in DATS
  • With the input of supervisors and managers, establish a training system that establishes minimum requirements for each training program which will include: Maximum training periods to determine competency, hands on checks to determine competency, and refresher or certification periods for training programs
  • Work with all management and supervisory staff to address changes in the work environment and promotes a learning culture
  • Network with internal and external experts to identify best practices
  • Manage the DATS system (user accounts, system integrity, assignment of training, jobs, etc)
  • Source and assessing appropriate training resources and trainers to deliver training
  • Follow-up with training participants to ensure they are progressing in their training plan and meeting training deadlines
  • Maintain classrooms and equipment dedicated to training activities. The Training Coordinator is responsible for ensure the facility meets the needs of the specific training being delivered.

What do I need to be successful?

  • 3 plus years’ related experience
  • Industry experience is a plus
  • Or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position
  • Planning and organizing skills
  • Ability to self-manage and work proactively
  • Good written & oral communication skills; Comfortable and proficient in presenting information to large groups
  • Compelling one-to-one and group communication skills
  • Basic budgeting and financial analysis skills
  • Ability to effectively present information in a clear manner, demonstrate procedures and respond to questions
  • Computer literacy is required including proficiency with MSOffice and Articulate software
  • Demonstrated knowledge of jobs associated with the manufacturing process

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Training and Development, Business or related field
