Electrical Controls Technologist

Job Purpose

To work with a team of process controls specialists designing, maintaining, and improving our controls system consisting of:

• PLCs
• HMI Systems
• Historian
• Motion Control Systems
• Robotics
• Variable Frequency and DC drives
• instruments
• and the networks for communicating with them.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

• Automation project solutions engineering
• Troubleshoot electrical controls systems and networks
• Complete training identified by the Electrical Team Leader
• Maintain and Troubleshoot PLC Systems
• Assist in the training of other electricians’ apprentices and site personnel based on your skills and abilities
• Actively participate in EHS Programs
• Maintain housekeeping of the assigned areas
• Perform other duties as required

What do I need to be successful?

• Ability to work in a team environment
• Knowledge of Control Networks
• Knowledge of Advanced PLC Programming
• Knowledge of Electrical troubleshooting
• Knowledge of HMI Development and Historian Systems
• Knowledge of VFDs, DC drives
• Strong Computer Skills
• Strong Time management and prioritizing skills
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings

Education

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution
• Other combinations of training/experience/education will be considered.
