Job Purpose

To implement Corporate Supply Management Strategy, and develop and manage site procurement staff. To lead, plan, and manage the supply strategy and direction for the procurement of all major non-fiber materials within an assigned region. Assist in the direction setting of the Supply Management Department through participation on the Supply Management Leadership Team.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Implement vendor consolidation policies and develop improved purchasing systems to reduce overall costs.
  • Leverage buying capabilities through coordination of purchases and development of partnerships and alliances with key vendors
  • Provide long-term continuous improvement and innovation through the development and maintenance of key vendor relationships
  • Work with mills to drive improvements in management of storeroom inventories
  • Work with management teams in facilitating quality issues and value-added programs
  • Work directly with the Corporate Supply Stream Manager in developing implementation plans
  • Monitor, track, and improve supplier performance metrics at plants within assigned region
  • Supervise staff; hire, train, and complete performance evaluations
  • Target key services that our suppliers can perform to help LP achieve our Value, Cost and Compliance objectives
  • Share either directly or indirectly the Performance management responsibilities with related business for all Material Managers and Buyers. Develop and track metrics to drive improvements in mill performance
  • Provide appropriate training opportunities for the Supply Organization within the assigned region
  • Ensure that the Supply Management Six Step business process is followed
  • Moderate to heavy travel required

What do I need to be successful?

  • 5-7 years’ demonstrated procurement/supply management experience.
  • 3-5 years’ demonstrated supervisory experience; Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
  • Knowledge of effective materials management and inventory control
  • Knowledge of effective supervisory and management practices and techniques
  • Knowledge of and ability to develop materials management plan metrics
  • Skill in pricing and price forecasting
  • Skill in negotiating contracts and prices
  • Ability to build and maintain strong vendor relationships


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field required.
