Job Purpose
Manage complex engineering assignments including standards or specifications, parts, components and systems associated with focused areas of major capital projects. Completes work in accordance with standard engineering principles & practices, industry design standards and local, state and national codes or regulations.

• Manage a capital program consisting of 12+ projects, valued up to a combined $10 million across a single facility.
• Plan and execute all aspects of each capital project or technology initiative including basic data gathering, engineering evaluation, scope-of-work development, equipment layout development, cost estimation, financial analysis, detailed design review, contract negotiation, document control, construction planning, and detailed scheduling. Note, detailed engineering design is not a function of this role.
• Provide overall leadership for engineering projects/programs through capital project scope, schedule, and budget development as well as execution/implementation management.
• Develop budget and manage performance against budget for all projects/programs managed.
• Provide engineering input to business and mill for the development of strategic and operating plans.
• Assume responsibility for personal safety and for the safety performance of all personnel, projects and programs managed.
• Provide engineering/technical advice to co-workers in all businesses and functions.
• Conduct training for engineering and other personnel in the areas of Engineering and Capital Project Management.
• Maintain Engineering records according to corporate Records Retention Guidelines.
• Conduct special projects/studies, as opportunities arise, relating to technology and capital effectiveness.
• Assist with maintenance and reliability initiatives such as preventative / predictive systems, chronic failure resolution, and EOM project implementation.
• Work closely with Mill Team and Corporate Functions including Procurement, Supply Management, Audit, Finance, Environmental Services, and Information Technology to assure conformance with corporate policy.

• Knowledge of Capital Project Management tools and processes.
• Ability to scope, schedule, and budget complex and multi-disciplinary projects.
• Ability to lead an internal and external team through a project cycle to ensure safe, on-time, and successful execution.
• Ability to lead an engineering vendor to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs.
• Familiarity with reviewing multi-disciplinary engineering drawings and plans.
• Ability to proficiently navigate the Microsoft Product suite, including Sharepoint, Word, Excel, Project, and Teams.
• Ability to navigate AutoCad and Navisworks for drawing and model reviews.
• Ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering to a variety of complex business problems.
• Ability to identify, formulate and solve engineering problems.
• Ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.
• Ability to communicate effectively — both verbal and written.
• An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility.
• A recognition of the need for and an ability to engage in life-long learning.
Experience:
• 3+ years experience as a practicing professional in engineering or capital project management.
• Experience developing capital project scope, schedule, and budget documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to complete multiple project cycles.
• Experience in managing engineering programs/projects >$1 million in size is preferable.
• Experience with the building products industry, equipment, and processes is preferable.
Education
- • BS in Engineering, Applied Science, or related field.
• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification or Professional Engineering (PE) license is
