Job Description: 

Job Purpose

To provide IT technical solutions, application infrastructure support and training that contributes to the overall effectiveness of manufacturing operations.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Establish and enforce LP hardware and software manufacturing standards to support such programs as process control, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), statistical process control, and mill maintenance application systems.
  • Participate in the analysis, design, development and implementation of manufacturing systems.
  • Install and configure manufacturing operating systems and application software packages as required in accordance with company defined guidelines and best practices.
  • Aid in supporting the lifecycle of database systems through the understanding of database structures, utilization standards, and access methods to ensure optimum performance; initiate performance tuning and troubleshoot problems as needed to maintain data integrity.
  • Validate and document network configurations and review monitoring of existing systems for stable performance; analyze utilization trends; troubleshoot problems and adjust settings as needed; administer user accounts and security.
  • Conduct manufacturing application training for LP personnel from all levels.
  • Establish and maintain good working relations with LP business units supported and corporate functional teams
  • Provide consultative services to businesses/functions regarding IT Manufacturing systems, capabilities, and opportunities.
  • Participate in the development of technical standards and application interfaces.
  • Assist in monitoring system performance and data integrity.
  • Assist with project and work prioritization and scheduling with communication to necessary functions.
  • Conduct manufacturing application training for LP personnel from all levels.
  • Assist in the development of plant and team budgets.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What do I need to be successful?

  • 3-5 years related experience
  • Or any combination of education, experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position
  • Working knowledge of AVEVA (Wonderware) applications and components including AVEVA Model Driving MES, AVEVA Historian, Historian Client, Reports for Operations, and System Platform.
  • Working understanding of database design, relational database structures, TSQL queries, toolsets and system performance.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SQL Server Report Services (SSRS), and Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
  • Working knowledge system development methodologies and of multiple programming languages utilizing including Microsoft Visual Studio’s VB.Net , C#, ASP.Net , Javascript, PHP, Python, XML, HTML 5.  
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing operations and good manufacturing practices.
  • Working knowledge of core manufacturing technologies such as PLC, HMI and communications protocols
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills.
  • Skill in managing multiple projects.
  • Ability to readily learn and apply new technology.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of LP staff as well as hardware & software vendors.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

Work Environment

  • Office and mill environment with moderate to heavy travel required between facilities (40% or more).
  • On call work required.
