Job Description: 

Job Purpose

Monitor production process and ensure product meets specified quality standards by utilizing mechanical testing procedures and visual checks.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Ensure final quality of all products produced: board dimensions, board properties, board appearance, unit appearance, etc.
  • Ensure correct trademarking and stamping on the daily production.
  • Perform production changes as needed in the following areas of concern: flaking/drying/blending/sawing, line speed adjustments, or other line adjustments. 
  • Collect, process, and analyze data related to producing a quality product. 
  • Assist with troubleshooting quality problems and understand how production equipment affects the quality of the product.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of research & development of projects and help with special projects related to continuous improvement.
  • Control downgrade: maintain at a minimum. ensure proper labeling.
  • Maintain proper wood/resin/wax usage conducive to making a quality product.
  • Perform tests/trials above and beyond routine that are assigned by the Technical Director.
  • Ensure all products certification agency (APA) guidelines and LP quality policies are followed.
  • Provide proper documentation to ensure good communication and compliance verification.
  • Assist in necessary maintenance projects related to the QC Department.
  • Unload resin/wax trucks/railcars (when needed).
  • Assume any other duties assigned by the Technical Director.

What do I need to be successful?

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and comprehend safety rules, environmental regulations and work procedures.
  • Competent computer skills (Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Access, SPC software).
  • Basic math skills (solving equations).
  • Ability to use a variety of measuring tools and able to read instrumentation (micrometers, calipers and dial indicators).
  • Knowledge of quality standards (SQC & SPC preferred).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to operate small hand and power tools.

 

Education:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

 

Experience:

  • 3 – 6 months experience.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
