Job Description: 

Job Purpose

Responsible for properly grading board as designated by the QC Department.  Uses forklift to stack, tier and move equipment and material in warehouse.  Packages finished units, tends bundling machine that ties and labels bundles of finished product. This facility currently operates on a rotating schedule/shifts

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

Demonstrate safety as the highest priority and perform duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.

Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Ensure product meets specified grade standards per QC manual.

Transport units  orderly and efficient flow of product through finishing end process.

Clean and perform routine maintenance on equipment.

Identify substandard product and contact Finishing Lead, QC Technician or Shift Supervisor immediately for corrective action.

Maintain adequate supply of materials.

During downtime and product changes – assist operator in making adjustments to arbor, profilers, guides, fan coaters, etc.

Regrade boards when necessary.

Provide assistance when needed to the Finishing Department Relief in proper edge sealant and packaging of finished units.

 Responsible for adhering to all environmental policies and procedures.

 Other duties or responsibilities not listed above may be assigned as necessary.

What do I need to be successful?

  • Possess knowledge, demonstrate competency in, and obey all applicable company, state, and federal safety policies, standards and regulations
  • Possess the ability and desire to follow all safety rules, policies, standards and constantly demonstrate safe work practices while performing all job duties
  • Knowledge of lumber grade standards
  • Knowledge of line position duties and functions
  • Ability to use grading tools
  • Ability to use hand banders, forklift, and computer
  • Good math, communication, organizational and mechanical skills
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret written grades and standards

 

Education

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
