Job Purpose

Reporting to the Shipping Supervisor, the Shipping Lead Hand is tasked with many duties such as dealing with Trucking companies and Drivers when they arrive, taking and making appointments, creating orders through SAP, helping to create SOPs and running equipment when necessary.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Ensure and promote safe operation in the shipping area through example and direction.
  • Orient truck divers on safety and site rules
  • Ensures all OSB truck drivers on site are complying with safety requirements
  • Take and enter truck appointments as needed
  • Perform month end duties as required
  • Provide relief coverage for Shipping Team Leader
  • Reconcile shipments with invoices
  • General clerical and associated duties
  • Load Railcars and trucks as required
  • Correct tagging issues as required
  • Other duties as required of the department.

What do I need to be successful?

The successful candidate will bring the following experience and expertise:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Ideally possess 2 years business and/or office experience
  • Industry or Plant experience
  • Transportation and logistics experience is an asset
  • Self-motivated
  • Excellent documentation and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Able to pass a medical and become CROR certified



  • Length of service, DATS completion, previous experience, attitude, teamwork, motivation, attendance, punctuality, reliability, interest, corrective action.


  • Grade 12 or equivalent
