Job Purpose
Forecast, and coordinate operational forestry activities (planning, logging, truck hauling, road construction, road maintenance, road deactivation, silviculture and waste / residue surveys). Lead, plan and manage the resources activities on forest tenures associated with the site.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:
- Demonstrate a commitment to our safety culture by actively participating in the Safety Program and performing all duties in accordance with safety rules, regulations, and policies.
- Manage and implement Louisiana-Pacific’s Sustainable Forest Management plan along with other licensees and government participants in the Fort St. John Pilot Project.
- Manage, supervise, train, mentor, and manage the performance of Planning staff and contractors.
- Accountable for ensuring LP’s interests are coordinated and managed to maximize the benefits accrued through our tenures.
- Prepare contracts, negotiate rates, hire and manage contractors to achieve Planning objectives.
- Develop, and track performance of, an annual Planning budget that achieves the financial targets of the Forest Resources Division.
- Work and form positive relationships with LP team members, industry, First Nations, Government agencies, the public and other stakeholders.
- Coordinating with the Regional Manager, FRD support the preparation and review of the monthly reporting. Periodically, act in the capacity of Regional Manager, FRD.
- Recommend effective and innovative strategies to drive unit cost efficiencies in the operation.
- Assist in management of human recourse duties.
- Ensure compliance with operational plans, company policy and legal requirements.
- Strategic planning and communication with Area Forester II and Harvesting and Silviculture Superintendents to ensure LP success.
- May lead multiple projects and applies project management best practices throughout the project management life cycle.
- Achieve key performance measures by participating in LP’s performance management system.
- Provide support on the implementation, coordination, and management of the Peace Valley Sustainable Forestry Initiative certification program.
- Plan, participate, and/or lead other team projects as requested.
What do I need to be successful?
- 2 - 3 years' supervisory experience.
- 5 - 7 years' forestry experience
- Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.

- Extensive, working knowledge of natural resources in the northeast region of British Columbia
- Located in the northeast of British Columbia, with a preference for working in an office setting.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or related field and RPF designation
