Job Purpose


To ensure that the mill is supplied with sufficient amounts of debarkable wood and hogged fuel required for uninterrupted operations. Grounds keeping which will require snow clearing, lawn care and other duties as required.


  • Receive a $500 signing bonus plus a $2,000 retention bonus after 6 months for eligible new hires. 

Key Responsibilities


  • Safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment (Loader, Button Top / Log Loader, Skid Steer etc.) on plant property
  • Safe and efficient use of Loader attachments such as snow blade, chip bucket, multipurpose bucket and log grapple.
  • Light maintenance (Greasing), cleaning and routine servicing of equipment
  • Follow company refueling SOP’s
  • Perform pre-use inspections and conduct proper equipment walkarounds.
  • Load, unload, identify and distribute materials and equipment
  • Operate heavy equipment in compliance with the company's operating safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide recommendations for maintaining and improving environmental performance.
  • Complete required paperwork, reporting, and other documentation.
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations
  • Provide excellent interpersonal skills with all visitors, employees, and public
  • Unload wood from logging trailers and moves to designated area.
  • Aiding coworkers to ensure that the site is clean and organized at the end of each shift.



  • Knowledge and Experience operating a Loader, Log loader, Lawn mower, skid steer and other heavy equipment
  • All applicants must have a valid Driver’s license
  • 12-hour shift work / Alternating Dayshift and Nightshift following a schedule under a Variance / Averaging agreement
  • Good Hand /Eye Coordination
  • Knowledge of safety rules and regulations
  • Basic knowledge of computers / calculator
  • Preference may be given to applicants with OFA Level 3 First Aid Certificate
  • Excellent safety record and strong work ethic
  • Accountable and dependable
  • Knowledge of various species of trees / Wood Yard spec. sheet
  • Knowledge of Louisiana-Pacific Corp. SMS and EMS rules and regulations
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Excellent vision or the use of prescribed lenses.
  • Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • A sound understanding of pertinent safety guidelines.
  • Capacity to provide and follow direction.
  • Sharp decision-making skills, particularly when under pressure.
  • Ability to work extended hours, as required.




  • High school diploma or equivalent desired
  • Heavy Equipment Operator Training preferred




  • Heavy equipment operation in a production-based environment.

Work Environment


  • Outdoors workplace subject to fluctuating climate conditions
  • Some bending, lifting and pulling
  • Moderate eye strain from displays and terminals
  • OSB plant setting
