Job Purpose
The transport operator is primarily responsible for moving logs from cutting blocks to forest roads or storage areas using a forestry transporter with a capacity of 19 to 25 tons. Depending on operational needs, they may also be required to operate various forestry equipment (such as a sawhead harvester or multifunctional harvester) to carry out logging, skidding, and wood transport tasks. The operator is also responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting machinery to ensure proper functioning and operational safety.
In this position you will have the opportunity to:
- Operate forestry machinery in accordance with relevant safety regulations.
- Perform logging, shaping, skidding, and wood transport.
- Conduct regular maintenance on the machine.
- Detect breakdowns and leaks.
- Repair minor mechanical issues.
- Clean the machinery.
What do I need to be successful?
- Vocational diploma (DEP) in logging and wood shaping OR
4 years of relevant experience (high school diploma is an asset). - Pass a pre-employment medical exam to confirm fitness for the role.
