Job Description: 

Job Purpose

Under the supervision of the Operations Supervisor, the Forest Transport Operator is primarily responsible for transporting felled trees and logs from the cutting blocks to forest roads or storage areas. The operator also performs log processing, as well as maintenance and troubleshooting of the machinery as needed, to ensure it remains in good working condition and that all operations are carried out safely.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Operate forestry machinery in accordance with safety regulations
  • Fell, process, skid, and transport wood
  • Perform regular maintenance on their truck  
  • Detect breakdowns and leaks              
  • Repair minor breakdowns       
  • Clean the machinery

  • Ability to work in a team

Education

  • DEP in Heavy Machinery Operation in Forest Road Construction OR Certificate of Specialization in Forestry Machinery Operation with one year of significant experience OR Four years of significant experience (high school diploma is an asset)
  • Mechanical knowledge
  • Good knowledge of French

Work Environment

  • Work in forest environments
